Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BlueTicks for Gmail (“BlueTicks”, “we”, “us”) collects, processes, stores, and shares your personal data when you use our Chrome extension and this website. We built BlueTicks around the principle of data minimisation: we collect only what is strictly needed to tell you whether the emails you send have been opened.

1. Who we are

BlueTicks for Gmail is operated by Jeed. When tracking is enabled on your account, we process the resulting tracking data (open events) as a data processor, on your behalf and on your instructions — you choose to enable tracking, and you can turn it off at any time. For the data relating to your own account (your account identifier and subscription data), Jeed acts as the data controller. 2. What data we collect

  • Account identifier. The email address of the Gmail account on which you enable tracking. It is used as the key for your account and to deliver read-status notifications to you.
  • Email tracking metadata. For each email you choose to track, a unique tracking identifier and the time it was sent. The recipient address and subject line of a tracked email are processed when the tracking is registered so the extension can label it for you; they are stored only locally in your browser and are not retained on our servers.
  • Open events. When a tracked email is opened, we record the time of the open, the type of device (mobile or desktop), and coarse, non-identifying network information (the network operator) used only to filter out duplicate and automated opens.
  • Subscription & billing data (paid plans only). If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We store only the Stripe identifiers needed to manage your subscription — never your card number.

3. What we do not collect

  • The content (body) of your emails — it never leaves Gmail.
  • The subject lines and recipients of your emails are never stored on our servers (see section 2).
  • Your IP address (it is not stored), your browsing history, or any profiling or advertising data.
  • We never request OAuth scopes or access to your Google account, and we never ask for your password.

For transparency: when a tracking pixel loads, our servers briefly receive the standard information of any web request, including the opener's IP address, in order to derive the non-identifying network operator described above. The IP address itself is not retained.

4. How we process and use your data

We process the data above for a single purpose and its supporting operations:

  • To show you whether, when, and how many times your tracked emails have been opened.
  • To operate and secure the service, including filtering out your own opens and automated scans so your notifications stay accurate.
  • To enforce plan limits and provide and manage paid plans, where applicable.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or training of any kind, and we do not process it for any purpose other than those listed above.

5. Where your data is stored and how it is protected

  • Server-side data (account identifier, tracking metadata, open events) is stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure (Cloudflare Workers KV), a globally distributed key-value store operated by Cloudflare, Inc.
  • Encryption. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) between the extension, the people who open your emails, and our servers. Cloudflare encrypts stored data at rest.
  • Access control. Access to stored data is restricted to the service operator, solely for operating and maintaining the service. Requests to read your tracking data are authenticated and scoped to your own account.
  • Local data. Your preferences and the list of your tracked emails (including recipient and subject labels) are stored locally in your browser via Chrome's extension storage and never leave your device except as described in section 2.

6. Legal bases (GDPR)

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies, for the data Jeed controls (your account and subscription data) we rely on the following legal bases:

  • Consent — you install the extension and choose to enable tracking; you can withdraw consent at any time.
  • Performance of a contract — to provide paid plans you have subscribed to.
  • Legitimate interests — to keep the service secure and to filter automated or duplicate opens, balanced against your rights and freedoms.

For the tracking data we process on your behalf, you are responsible for the lawfulness of tracking your recipients.

7. How we share your data

We share data only with the service providers (sub-processors) strictly necessary to run the service, acting on our instructions:

  • Cloudflare, Inc. — hosting, storage, and content delivery of the backend and this website.
  • Stripe, Inc. — payment processing for paid plans.

We never sell your data, we never share it with third parties for their own marketing or any other purpose, and we do not disclose it to anyone else unless required by law.

8. Data retention and deletion

We keep your tracking data for as long as you use the service, so your read-status history remains available to you. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored data from your browser; it does not automatically delete server-side data. You can ask us to delete all data associated with your account at any time by contacting privacy@blueticks.io, and we will do so without undue delay.

9. International data transfers

Our service providers may process data in countries outside your own, including the United States. Where required, such transfers are protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

10. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You may also withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@blueticks.io. If you are in the EEA or the UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority.

11. Cookies

The BlueTicks extension does not use advertising or tracking cookies; it stores your preferences locally in your browser. This website uses Google Analytics cookies to measure site traffic; these cookies are not used for advertising.

12. Children

BlueTicks is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes will be communicated through the extension or this website.
